Why do his scars move around?

-- Take a good look at the picture below.

-- Go back to the video and stop it at 0:00 or a few seconds after to observe him in his hospital bed.

-- In the video that the two holes by his wrist are slightly under his arm, almost underneath it. In the photo, however, they're suddenly higher, above the bone line, and on his forearm.

-- The third hole further back also on the high underside of his arm. Once again, in the photo it's suddenly on his forearm.

-- Where did that fourth hole come from on the underside of his arm in the photo?

-- Consistency error?

Russia Meteor Was Largest in More Than a Century

The meteor that crashed to earth in Russia was about 55 feet in diameter, weighed around 10,000 tons and was made from a stony material, scientists said, making it the largest such object to hit the Earth in more than a century.

Large pieces of the meteor have yet to be found. However, a team from the Urals Federal University, which is based in Yekaterinburg, collected 53 fragments, the largest of which was 7 millimeters, according to Viktor Grokhovsky, a scientist at the university.

Data from a global network of sensors indicated that the disintegration of the Russia fireball unleashed nearly 500 kilotons of energy, more than 30 times the energy of the Hiroshima atomic bomb.

It is the largest reported meteor since the one that hit Tunguska, Siberia, in 1908, according to the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The agency's new gauge of the meteor's size was a marked increase from its initial estimate.

Ball of light flashes over South Florida, witnesses say

A ball of light in the sky resembling a meteor was reported Sunday night by several people in Miami-Dade and Broward counties..

“Looking over the Biscayne Bay from downtown, I saw an object falling from the sky,” said Brad Greenberg, 30, of Miami in a tweet about 6:30 p.m. “At first, the object was faintly glowing and moving fast but not nearly as fast as a shooting star.”

He said the object burned bright, as though a fuse reached an explosive, and then it was gone.

“The whole thing last maybe three seconds,” he said.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office reported receiving several calls claiming there were “lights in the sky.”

Israeli soldier posts Instagram image of Palestinian child in crosshairs of rifle

An Israeli soldier has sparked outrage by posting a photograph appearing to show the back of a Palestinian boy's head in the crosshairs of his sniper rifle on a social networking site.

The context of the picture, posted on the personal Instagram site of Mor Ostrovski, 20, could not be verified but the aggressive message is clear. The minarets and Arabic architecture of the village captured in the background suggest the boy and the town are Palestinian. Ostrovski is an Israeli soldier in a sniper unit.

The Israeli military said the soldier's commanders were investigating the incident. His actions "are not in accordance with the spirit of the IDF [Israel Defence Forces] or its values", a spokesperson said.

Matt's thoughts:
The latest Israeli-Gaza conflict started when an Israeli sniper shot and killed a Palestinian child on a soccer field. The initial rockets (which did no damage) formed the Gazan response to this murder. Seem incredible after seeing the above photo?

North Korea tested long-range missile engine before nuke blast: sources

North Korea tested an engine for its new long-range missiles one day before its third nuclear test last week, government sources here said Sunday.

Pyongyang carried out a function test of the engine for its long-range "KN-08" missiles on the Dongchang-ri launch site in North Pyongan Province on Monday, according to multiple government sources.

It was one day before the communist country defied international warnings by detonating what it calls a miniaturized atomic device, drawing a chorus of worldwide condemnations and prompting the United Nations Security Council to start work on "appropriate measures" against the North's latest provocation. The North also conducted nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009.

"It appears that North Korea conducted the engine test aimed at extending the range of the KN-08 missile to over 5,000 kilometers," said a source. He declined to be identified.

EU eases Zimbabwe sanctions

The European Union agreed Monday to lift some of its punishing sanctions against Zimbabwe as a reward for ongoing political reforms but the move brought a furious response from President Robert Mugabe's ZANU-PF party.

As Zimbabwe prepares to vote on a new constitution in March, EU foreign ministers agreed to end an assets freeze and visa ban against certain members of the regime.

"We have shown that by removing some sanctions we will reward reforms," said British Foreign Secretary William Hague.

How did Russia's early warning system miss the meteorite? Nuclear missile-detecting radars never saw it coming

Questions are being asked as to why Russia's powerful missile defence radar systems did not detect the meteorite that exploded over the country on Friday morning.

Almost 1,200 were injured when the untracked lump of space rock exploded over the Urals, with the debris narrowly missing a direct and devastating hit on the industrial city of Chelyabinsk.

In the aftermath of the impact Russian politicians called on the world's powerful nations to urgently develop technology to spot asteroids and meteorites that threaten our planet.

Gaza tunnel business washed away by Egypt

Egypt's campaign to shut down smuggling tunnels running under its border into the Gaza Strip threatens to throw thousands of Palestinians out of work in the Hamas-run enclave.

The network of tunnels has been a vital lifeline for Gaza, bringing in an estimated 30 percent of all goods that reach the enclave and circumventing a blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt for more than seven years.

Weapons are also smuggled underground and at least 10,000 Palestinians are believed to work in the tunnel business.

Green 'Space' Slime Baffles Nature Experts

A "weird" green slime said in folklore to appear at the same time as meteors hit Earth has been found in a birdlife park in Somerset.

The RSPB have appealed for help in identifying the slime, which is said to be scattered on grass banks close to pools and lakes around Ham Wall Nature Reserve, near Glastonbury.

The jelly-like substance could be bacteria, fungus or toad innards, wildlife experts said.

Some believe it could be a substance that has been written about for centuries called star or astral jelly, which is said to appear in the wake of meteor showers.

Marc Dutroux: Child Killer Denied Freedom

Serial paedophile child killer Marc Dutroux - one of Belgium's most notorious criminals - has been denied early release from prison for fear he might re-offend.

A Belgian court on Monday turned down a request by the 56-year-old to serve out the rest of his life sentence at home under electronic surveillance.

The court said there were "no grounds" for an early release, citing the "absence of any prospect that Dutroux" could be reintegrated into society.

The Pope seeks immunity: The end of the Vatican could be near

The Pope will have immunity from prosecution regarding the mishandling of child sex crimes by staying within the walls of the Vatican, according to an anonymous Vatican source. Reuters reported Friday, Feb. 15, that church sources have explained that the retiring Pope Benedict would be “defenseless” if he leaves the Vatican.

This official news story comes on the heels of a statement issued by the International Tribunal into Crimes Against Church and State (ITCCS) that detailed the legal situation that surrounds the Pope and the Vatican. An unnamed European country and the ITCCS have issued a campaign to hold the Pope accountable for the Vatican’s cover-up of child sex crimes. There was an international arrest warrant secured for the Pope’s arrest:

On Friday, February 1, 2013, on the basis of evidence supplied by our affiliated Common Law Court of Justice (itccs.org), our Office concluded an agreement with representatives of a European nation and its courts to secure an arrest warrant against Joseph Ratzinger, aka Pope Benedict, for crimes against humanity and ordering a criminal conspiracy.

The World Health Organisation on Saturday urged countries to be vigilant over the spread of a potentially fatal SARS-like virus after a new case in Britain brought the global number to 12.

"Based on the current situation and available information, WHO encourages all Member States to continue their surveillance for severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and to carefully review any unusual patterns," the United Nations health agency said in a statement.

On Friday, British health authorities said that a third member of a family had been diagnosed with so-called novel coronavirus, but was not in danger.

Thousands of ducks slaughtered at German farm following bird flu outbreak

About 14,000 ducks at a German farm are being slaughtered following a bird flu outbreak.

A federal laboratory confirmed Friday the H5N1 virus was detected at the farm near Seelow, east of Berlin — the first such finding in Germany in more than three years.

On Saturday, officials started slaughtering the farm's ducks. Local council spokesman Tobias Seyfarth told news agency dpa that all poultry within a one-kilometre (half-mile) radius of the facility will be kept under observation for the next 21 days, with owners told to keep their birds where they are and report any symptoms.

Bird flu outbreak hits 500000 Mexican chickens

Mexico's animal health agency says a bird flu outbreak at seven farms in central Mexico has affected as many as 582,000 chickens.

The Agriculture Department says more than a half million birds were exposed, but the number that will have to be slaughtered has yet to be determined.

An outbreak of the H7N3, a subtype of the bird flu virus, in western Mexico in 2012 led to the slaughter of more than 22 million hens and caused price increases in chicken and egg products.

Bird Flu: Cambodian Toddler Is The Sixth Fatality In The Recent Outbreak

The bird flu has claimed the life of a Cambodian toddler. The 3-year-old girl has become the sixth fatality of the latest outbreak. The young child reportedly came into contact with poultry in her southern Kampot province village.

There have been recent poultry deaths in the same Cambodian village, US News reports. There have been seven cases of the bird flu in the country so far this year. Only one H5N1 victim survived the infection.

In January four Cambodians died after contracting the H5N1 virus. A 17-month-old baby girl was among the dead last month. Last week a 5-year-old Cambodian girl also died after becoming ill with the bird flu.

Bird Flu Death In China Sparks Fear Of Human-Transmitted H5N1 Strain

A woman diagnosed with the H5N1 strain of the bird flu last week has died in southwest China.

Health authorities in Guiyang, Guizhou province, announced that the 21-year-old woman, Shuai Pengyue, died on Wednesday due to multiple organ failure as a result of the flu. Shuai was one of two women reported in the area to have contracted the new strain of the avian influenza. Health officials have investigated the two of them and concluded that neither patient was in contact with poultry before showing symptoms of the illness.

Victim proximity is important to note because typically, the bird flu is contracted by being in contact with poultry. In this case, health officials worry this could be signs that the H5N1 strain can now be transmitted between humans.

Drones are taking to the skies in the U.S.

While a national debate has erupted over the Obama administration's lethal drone strikes overseas, federal authorities have stepped up efforts to license surveillance drones for law enforcement and other uses in U.S. airspace, spurring growing concern about violations of privacy.

The Federal Aviation Administration said Friday it had issued 1,428 permits to domestic drone operators since 2007, far more than were previously known. Some 327 permits are still listed as active.

Operators include police, universities, state transportation departments and at least seven federal agencies. The remotely controlled aircraft vary widely, from devices as small as model airplanes to large unarmed Predators.

New euro czar 'will cost Government thousands'

THE cost to the taxpayer of the Scottish Government's "euro czar" is expected to run into tens of thousands of pounds – but the final bill is still unclear.

Professor Andrew Scott from Edinburgh University's School of Law began working for the SNP administration on January 3, and his secondment will run for two years.

Some, most notably the Nationalists' opponents, will see his appointment as tacit acknowledgement that Scottish Government ministers have not been well-prepared on the important subject.

Thousands at climate rally in Washington call on Obama to reject Keystone pipeline

Thousands of protesters gathered on the Washington's National Mall on Sunday calling on President Barack Obama to reject the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline proposal and honor his inaugural pledge to act on climate change.

Organizers of the "Forward on Climate" event estimated that 35,000 people from 30 states turned out in cold, blustery conditions for what they said was the biggest climate rally in U.S. history. Police did not verify the crowd size.

Kremlin calls for creation of global Star Wars-style missile defence system to save the world from future asteriod strike

The Kremlin is calling on the world's most powerful countries to urgently develop the technology and weapons systems to destroy asteroids and meteors that threaten Earth.

Almost 1,200 people suffered injuries last week when an untracked lump of space rock exploded over the Urals, with the debris narrowly missing a direct and devastating hit on the industrial city of Chelyabinsk, with a population of 1.13 million.

Hours later the closely-monitored asteroid 2012 DA14 buzzed the planet at a distance of only 17,200 miles, the closest ever known for an object of such size, equivalent to an Olympic swimming pool.
