LA Manhunt: Cabin On Fire In Dorner Shootout

A Swat team has moved in on a remote cabin where former police officer and murder suspect Christopher Dorner is thought to be hiding.

TV footage showed flames rising from the property in California's Big Bear Lake area which also had thick black smoke billowing from it.

A law enforcement official said a gun shot was heard before the fire broke out and that the suspect did not come out of the cabin as it was engulfed in flames.

Local Expert: ‘Sleep Texting’ Is Growing Problem Among Teens

Teenagers are prolific texters. But now’s there’s evidence that they are even doing it in their sleep.

It’s called sleep texting.

“It’s just what you’d think it is, it’s texting while asleep,” says Elizabeth Dowdell, nursing professor at Villanova University, “It’s exactly what is sounds like, or really more between that, you know, that area between being asleep and being awake.”

“The phone will beep, they’ll answer the text,” Dowdell says. “They’ll either respond in words or gibberish. (It) can even be inappropriate. Ex-girlfriends contacting ex-boyfriends, saying ‘I miss you. I want to see you.’ The thing that happens, though, is that when they wake up, there’s no memory.”

Dorner’s Remains Apparently Recovered From Burned Out Cabin Following Deadly Standoff

A body believed to be to that of quadruple-murder suspect Christopher Dorner has been recovered from a burned out cabin where he was holed up during a deadly shootout with authorities earlier today.

Dorner, who allegedly shot and killed his fourth victim — a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy — was barricaded inside a Seven Oaks residence for several hours Tuesday afternoon. He is also accused of shooting a second deputy, who was undergoing surgery after being airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The home, ironically, is located near the Sheriff’s outpost that was set up earlier this week as part of the search for him.

Thanks, America, for destroying much of the world

Photos like this are being spread across the internet lately, and they are dangerous for a few reasons. If you’re too lazy to read below; basically ignorant Americans are blaming other people, governments, and religions for problems their own nation caused.

First, here is a history lesson on Afghanistan. From 1933 until 1973, Afghanistan was ruled under a man named Mohammed Zahir Shah. While he was a devout Muslim, he had a Western education in France. His reign marked four decades of peace and stability. With the introduction of a constitution Afghanistan progressively developed into a modern democratic state with free elections and a parliament, as well as a massive push for women’s rights, universal suffrage, education, worker’s rights, and civil rights. So yes, Afghanistan was doing well in the 60’s as this photo suggests. However, the photo doesn’t give you context for what went wrong.

During this period in time the Soviet Union had a strong influence in Afghanistan. They supported modernization and education in the Afghan state. The United States, not wanting to risk their hegemony in the region, clearly had a major problem with this. They were terrified of the spread of Communism and quickly developed a plan. Afghanistan would become the Cold War’s chessboard. In the late 80’s, the Saudis, Pakistanis, and the Americans brought in radical Islamists from around the world. They armed, trained, and directed them into a militant force, and they were called the mujahideen. They became the US’ main offense against the Soviets. It wasn’t to defend the Afghans against the Soviets who were ready to pull out, but to deliver as much harm against them imaginable. Carter wanted Afghanistan to be the Soviet’s “Vietnam”. And it was. When they finally retreated Afghanistan spun into chaos and a civil war ensued under the militant mujahideen warriors. Within this framework we saw the rise of the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and of course Osama bin Laden. All under the auspices of the United States security forces and American tax-payer monies. Clinton’s bombing of Sudan and Afghanistan was directly responsible for their rise. Oh, and then in what was most likely the greatest immoral injustice of the 21st century the United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001 only further driving the besieged nation further into turmoil.

What does this mean? The mujahideen, the Taliban, and Al Qaeda do not represent thousands of years of Afghan culture and Islam. They are a direct reaction to Western imperialism. The root cause for the disparity between the two pictures is foreign intervention. Not Islam, and certainly not Arabs.

Second, here is a history on Iran. Before 1953, Iran was ruled under a democratically elected man called Mohammad Mosaddegh. Under his reign Iran saw a progressive movement of social and political reforms. During this time Britain tried to establish an oil company (British Petroleum) on Iranian soil, and promised to share profit and technology with the Iranian government. However the British, as usual, didn’t honor their agreement. They, and the United States, began to steal Iran’s oil. Prime Minister Mosaddegh would not stand for this and demanded the seizure of the oil fields and the ouster of the British. In response, the British and the United States overthrew him in a coup and installed the Shah who was a brutal tyrant and ruled the nation under an absolute monarchy. The women in this picture did live well, but that was because they were members of a very small minority and in the Shah’s social circle. Everyone else in Iran lived under harsh conditions. The economy was failing, education was abysmal, and the entire nation was rural and very religious.

Today, Iran’s health care is better. They have more political freedom. Education is improving, and the country is slowly globalizing. The economy is slightly better off, however that is quickly changing with the Western world’s sanctions against Iran in midst of their nuclear propaganda campaign at the behest of Israel.

What does this mean? Essentially, the Islamic Revolution had little to do with the rise of an Islamic state; rather the resistance of Western imperialism. Almost every social and political group was united in resisting the Shah, from the communists to the secularists to the Islamists. They demanded Iranian sovereignty and political freedoms. Is the current regime in Iran perfect? Absolutely not, and I’m passionately against it. But this picture is extremely distortive of the truth.

Unfortunately, we have gone full circle. Today, the United States is supporting terrorist cells in Iran in an attempt to oust the current Iranian regime. They want to establish another pro-Western government like the Shah and “try again” where they failed. They have been doing this for decades and it hasn’t been working well. That is why we are now seeing media hysteria against Iran, and their false quest to achieve nuclear power and bomb Israel. Iran is a peaceful nation, and always has been. They have never attacked another nation, and have absolutely no intention of attacking Israel or anyone else for that matter. The United States’ war against Iran is rooted solely to seek revenge for their failed foreign policy in the 70’s and to once again take control of their natural resources.

In conclusion, if you think you can understand decades of history in the Middle East, or anywhere for that matter, by looking at a photograph you are a fucking idiot who has no right to engage in intellectual discussion or give your opinion on anything other than what you watched on TLC last night.

Matt's thoughts:
I know many people will knee-jerk with their opinions upon seeing this photo and will say, "Aha! See? We TOLD you Islam destroys civilization!" First, the above is not actually an article, but a comment left for the accompanying photos by someone, like myself, tired of right-wing Christian and Jewish fanaticism dominating the media and people's minds. Second, for all those about to wave an Israeli flag and say how great it is and how terrible Islam is, keep in mind both Iran and Afghanistan were Islamic well before the US/Israeli-backed fanatics were allowed (and encouraged through generous assistance) to take over, the entire point of this individual's comment. Israel and the US (with Britain and France's help) alone have killed, in combination, more innocent people than the entire Islamic world in the 20th century, including the newly minted fanatics branded as Muslims by US/Israeli media, but in truth are anything but. Before Israel was given the land it now occupies by the British, many Jews were considered "terrorists" in that region and routinely blew up things to "forge a nation" for themselves, much like many of the Palestinians/Arabs of today. Does anyone see what's taking place here? Exercise your minds and stop believing the propaganda, including twisted Bible verses, that one group of people are magically exalted above all others, and that another group of people should eat dirt and perish because they believe in the same God via a different book. Only the intelligent will realize that such notions produce but a single outcome: a fallen angel laughing himself to tears upon his throne over the stupidity of unthinking, divided humans.

Horsemeat: Romanian Abattoirs 'Not To Blame'

Sky News has uncovered the paper trail which appears to exonerate the two Romanian abattoirs at the centre of the horsemeat scandal.

An invoice released by the CarmOlimp slaughterhouse in Brasov shows that the consignment of horsemeat, which eventually found its way to the ready meal factory in Luxembourg, was clearly and correctly labelled.

It bears the words 'Carne Cal Integral' which means 'whole horsemeat' in Romanian.

That would back up the results of a preliminary investigation by the government in Bucharest which said the accusations of wrongdoing in the eastern European country were incorrect.

Israel rattled by mysterious Australian prisoner: ABC

An Australian man committed suicide in a high-security Israeli jail in 2010 after being held for months in great secrecy, Australia's ABC channel said on Tuesday, throwing new light on a case that has rattled Israel.

The unsourced ABC story named the man, known previously only as "prisoner x", as Ben Zygier. It added that it "understood" the 34-year-old from Melbourne had been previously recruited by the Israeli spy agency Mossad.

Within hours of the report surfacing, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office summoned Israeli editors to ask them not to publish a story "that is very embarrassing to a certain government agency", Israel's Haaretz newspaper said.

Iran converts uranium to fuel, easing bomb fears

Iran acknowledged on Tuesday that it was converting some of its higher-grade enriched uranium into reactor fuel, a move that could help to prevent a dispute with the West over its nuclear program hitting a crisis in mid-2013.

Conversion is one way for Iran to slow the growth in its stockpile of material that could be used to make a bomb. That stockpile is currently projected to reach a level intolerable to Israel in mid-year, just as Iran's room for negotiation is being limited by a presidential election in June.

North Korea conducted its third nuclear test on Tuesday in defiance of existing U.N. resolutions, drawing condemnation from the United States, Japan, Europe and Pyongyang's only major ally, China, which summoned the North Korean ambassador to protest.

The North said the test had "greater explosive force" than the 2006 and 2009 tests. Its KCNA news agency said it had used a "miniaturized" and lighter nuclear device, indicating that it had again used plutonium which is more suitable for use as a missile warhead.

As it prepares for two sets of negotiations with outsiders on its disputed nuclear program, Iran said on Tuesday that it was converting some of its enriched uranium into reactor fuel, the state news agency IRNA reported, potentially limiting the expansion of stockpiles that the West fears could be used for weapons.

Iranian officials are to meet on Wednesday in Tehran with Herman Nackaerts, the deputy director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear watchdog, who has been pressing for access to a restricted military area at Parchin, 20 miles south of Tehran. International inspectors suspect the site may have been used for testing bomb triggers.

European Commission washes hands of horsemeat scandal responsibility

The European Commission does not intend to get involved in the horsemeat scandal in spite of the cross-border nature of the case. “We are faced with a problem of labelling, not a health threat. It is the national authorities’ duty to check that operators are acting as they should, and that the products on the market are not dangerous,” said the spokesperson of Health and Consumer Policy Commissioner Tonio Borg. This declaration puts an end to calls from some MEPs, such as José Bové (Greens-EFA, France), for an EU investigation.

The horsemeat scandal blew up mid-January, when the Irish authorities discovered horse and pig DNA in hamburger products that were meant to be made of only beef. The presence of high quantities of horsemeat was then discovered in a whole range of other transformed products, such as lasagne and spaghetti Bolognese. Yet horsemeat is not usually available in the UK.

Europe's horsemeat scandal 'not a food safety issue': Brussels

The European Commission said Monday that Europe's horsemeat scandal appeared at this stage to be a labelling problem and definitely not a question of food safety.

"We're not talking about a food safety issue," Commission spokesman Frederic Vincent said on being queried at a news conference on the possibility of a British ban on EU meat exports.

"Nobody got sick as far as I know. It's just a labelling issue. So at this stage a ban on anything would not be appropriate."

North Korea conducts nuclear test

North Korea conducts third nuclear test, drawing new sanctions threat.....Sanctions? ......Really?

North Korea conducted its third nuclear test on Tuesday in defiance of existing U.N. resolutions, angering the United States and Japan and prompting its only major ally, China, to call for calm.

The North said the test had "greater explosive force" than the 2006 and 2009 tests that were widely seen as small-scale. Its KCNA news agency said it had used a "miniaturized" and lighter nuclear device, indicating that it had again used plutonium which is more suitable for use as a missile warhead.

AUSTRALIAN SUSPECTED OF MOSSAD LINKS DIES IN ISRAELI JAIL

Evidence has been unearthed that strongly suggests Israel's infamous Prisoner X, who was jailed under extraordinary circumstances in 2010, was an Australian national from Melbourne.

Investigations by the ABC's Foreign Correspondent program have revealed Ben Zygier, who used the name Ben Alon in Israel, was found hanged in a high-security cell at a prison near Tel Aviv in late 2010.

His body was flown to Melbourne for burial a week later.

The death goes part of the way to explain the existence in Israel of a so-called Prisoner X, widely speculated in local and international media as an inmate whose presence has been acknowledged by neither the jail system nor the government.

Stricter European Rules and Fines For Rating Agencies

On 16 January 2013, the European Parliament agreed to the introduction of stricter rules for rating agencies. The new rules are aimed at addressing a number of problems including over-reliance on ratings by financial market participants and conflicts of interests caused by 'the issuer pays' remuneration model .

As part of the more stringent regime, unsolicited ratings of government debt may not be published more frequently than three times a year. In addition, agencies may only issue their ratings after close of business or at least one hour before the start of trading on European exchanges. Rating agencies may not publish ratings of their major shareholders.

Dr David Kelly Death: Doctors call for fresh probe into the death of government scientist

Doctors probing the death of Dr David Kelly wrote to the Chief Coroner yesterday calling for his inquest to be resumed and the suicide verdict re-examined.

In a letter to Judge Peter Thornton QC, they said there had been ‘deficiencies in legal processes’ that meant the government scientist’s inquest had never been formally closed, no final death certificate had been issued and no cause of death had been confirmed by a coroner.

They also said the first police officer at the scene had changed his account of how the body was positioned, bolstering claims that it had been moved.
