Skynet, America, and Civil War (A guest article by one of our supporters, MrPops09)

I was watching Terminator I II & III the other day, and I could not help but notice the similarities between SKYNET and what my generation has come to know as the American federal government. Just as SKYNET, a computer virus with the intelligence to direct its own behavior, was able to vastly overstep its bounds, so too has the federal government evolved. SKYNET was able to take control of the entire United States computer infrastructure. The federal government has taken complete control of our government. There is no such thing as States rights anymore, and the separation of powers has slowly become a joke. When is the last time congress declared war? WWII! But wait, how have we gone to countless wars since then you may ask? We have been able to do this because separation of powers has been taken over by this virus and has become meaningless. The federal government is SKYNET. SKYNET is a virus, and America has been sick for decades.

America has gotten to the point where a complete restructuring of our government as we now know it is badly needed. The re-institution of a small federal government and strong state rights must occur. However, the fault does not entirely lie with this intelligent synergetic entity we call the federal government. The fault lies with you, me, and past generations. We have been watching this pot slow-boil for decades. It started out comfortable. The water got warm with promises of social reform, individualism, and “the great society.” These promises of “hope and change” continued more progressively until we are where we are today. Well friends, the water is starting to boil, and if we do not jump out soon, you and I, along with America as we want to know it will perish.

Sadly, with the water on the verge of boiling, the only feasible solution to bring about such drastic changes is civil war. Voting people into office will not accomplish these sweeping changes in an acceptable fashion. This is mostly due to the corruption of our current politicians. Most are sellouts and are too afraid to make waves. Being a congressman was initially envisioned to be a sacrifice for one’s country. Do you see these guys sacrificing anything but their dignity? Our founding fathers warned us about the dangers of a two party system. We failed to listen. They warned us that it was too easily controlled and corrupted. We failed to believe.  However, there is hope (and not the kind Obama offers). We have this beautiful constitution that lays out everything we need to run the best representative republic the world has ever seen. If we go back to our founding principles, do away with entitlement programs, drastically reduce the size of our federal government, we can restore America to its former glory. Although there is such a thing as separation of church and state, it is impossible to argue that America was not heavily influenced by Christian ideals. We need not forget that.

America, the time for revolution is fast approaching! The Second Amendment was made so that the citizens could not only have a militia, but also send a clear message to the government when things get out of hand. It is not coincidence that throughout history, the first thing every tyrant does is disarm the populace. Are you going to wait until they start confiscating guns? Are you going to wait until marshal law is declared (soon to follow after gun confiscation no doubt)? Everyone, as an American, has the ethical and moral duty to defend the constitution of the United States. Our country has been around for over 200 years. We must stand and declare, “My generation is not going to be the one known for letting America collapse in its most dire time of need!” Whether or not you believe in God, we have God given rights that are inherently true.  These rights are Life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. These rights are being infringed upon with things such as: Internet censorship, Indefinite Detention of American Citizens Bill (you can be taken off to jail indefinitely without ever receiving a trial as an American), and the Patriot act (which includes the monitoring of phone and email conversations, as well as facial recognition systems linked between online media, street cameras, and government databases). If I would’ve told you this 20 or 30 years ago, it would have been unbelievable. There would’ve been riots on the streets. Where are those riots? Are we so comfortable and ignorant of history that we think America is invincible? Look at our economy! Look at our education system. Look at our morals. America has been hijacked, and it is time to take it back.  If you are a police officer, army vet, or any government worker, you swore to do just that. The time is coming to buck up or shut up. If you are in the aforementioned services, know who you side with. Don’t do what the Nazi’s did and blindly follow orders. Stand up for what is right because when the government breaks the constitution and comes for our guns, you had better know what side you are on. Are you going to kill American citizens? Well, many are going to try to kill you when that day comes.

Young Chinese Woman, Ms. Hu, Turned into a Grandma After Childbirth, Seeking Help

Matt's thoughts:
Ms Hu apparently allowed reporters to film her and publish her story because Chinese doctors were unable to find a solution to her condition, and she hoped that by sharing her story outside of China she might be able to find the expertise necessary to cure her. Hence, I share it here for that precise purpose.

Can North Korea deliver on its threat to target US with nuclear weapons?

North Korea’s threat to conduct a “high-level nuclear test” and more long-range missile launches comes just days after the United Nations Security Council rebuked the regime and imposed new sanctions over a successful missile test conducted last month.

In a rather alarming section of the statement quoted by North Korean state media, the threats were “aimed at our arch-enemy, the United States.” The statement continued: "Settling accounts with the U.S. needs to be done with force, not with words.”

EU threatens to fine Britain over EU energy market laws......296,000 euros a DAY!! for failing to tell the European Union whether it has fully implemented rules

Britain could face daily fines of 296,000 euros (394,000 dollars) for failing to tell the European Union whether it has fully implemented rules liberalizing its energy market, the bloc‘s executive announced Thursday.

EU member states had until March 2011 to enact legislation paving the way for a single energy market to come into existence by 2014 - a deadline that none of the bloc‘s 27 members met.

The European Commission has now referred Britain - along with Bulgaria and Estonia - to the European Court of Justice, proposing that the countries be fined if they fail to show that they have implemented the laws.

UN Investigates US Drone Killings

A U.N. expert on Thursday launched a special investigation into drone warfare and targeted killings, which the United States relies on as a front-line weapon in its global war against al-Qaida.

One of the three countries requesting the investigation was Pakistan, which officially opposes the use of U.S. drones on its territory as an infringement on its sovereignty but is believed to have tacitly approved some strikes in the past. Many Pakistanis say innocent civilians have also been killed in drone strikes, which the U.S. has rejected.

The other two countries requesting the investigation were not named but were identified as two permanent members of the U.N. Security Council.

China calls for talks after North Korean threat

With North Korea openly threatening the United States with nuclear weapons, China called Thursday for a new round of diplomacy and appears to be growing increasingly frustrated with its longtime ally.

Beijing’s calls for intervention come amid a torrent of belligerent language from Pyongyang, angered by a United Nations resolution earlier in the week expanding sanctions over its missile and nuclear program.

The latest escalation came Thursday when Pyongyang lashed out at the United States, which it called the “archenemy of the Korean people.’’

Sen. Feinstein ready to introduce new ban of about 150 types of firearms, including some handguns

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) will introduce a bill banning assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips on Thursday.

Antibiotic resistance is now as serious a threat as terrorism and could trigger an 'apocalyptic scenario', warns UK's top doctor

Growing numbers of drug-resistant diseases could trigger an ‘apocalyptic scenario’ comparable to a catastrophic terrorist attack, Britain’s chief medical officer warned yesterday.

She told MPs the threat from infections that are resistant to antibiotics was so serious that the issue should be added to the Government’s national risk register of civil emergencies.

EU speech: let's talk, says Merkel after Cameron's referendum gamble

Angela Merkel created a small breathing space for David Cameron on Wednesday when she gave a guarded response to his landmark speech on Europe, paving the way for the prime minister to campaign in favour of an in-out referendum on Britain's membership of the EU at the next election.

As most European leaders rejected Cameron's demands for a radical overhaul of the terms of Britain's EU membership, the German chancellor indicated she was open to negotiating a "fair compromise".

Iceland's Leader Slams Gordon Brown Over Crisis

The President of Iceland has launched an extraordinary verbal attack on Gordon Brown on the fringes of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, the country's longest-serving president, told Sky News that his country would "never forget" its treatment during the financial crisis at the hands of the former British prime minister.

During the financial crisis, following the collapse of Icelandic bank Icesave and Iceland's refusal to refund UK deposits, Britain took the rare step of imposing financial sanctions on the country.

**The president also signalled his country may soon abandon its plans to join the European Union.

He added: "It's quite clear both in my country and other parts of northern Europe that there is a growing scepticism about the way the European Union is moving forward.

"In the last three years the eurozone has revealed itself to be a different kind of animal.

Police say they found weapons, explosives, flags with Nazi symbols and neo-Nazi literature in a search of the group's headquarters in the village of Desselbrunn, 120 miles west of Vienna.

Cameron: We're Not Turning Our Back On Europe

David Cameron has defended his decision to table a referendum on Britain's membership of the European Union in a speech at the Davos summit.

The Prime Minister's address at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland focused on Britain's priorities during its presidency of the G8 and particularly tackled tax evasion and avoidance.

But despite his aides insisting he would not discuss his position on the EU, he dedicated a section of the speech to insisting that he was right to try and achieve a new settlement.

Spanish joblessness climbs again, no relief in sight

Spain's unemployment rate soared to its highest level since measurements began in the 1970s as a prolonged recession and deep spending cuts left almost 6 million people out of work at the end of last year.

Spain's unemployment rate rose to 26 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012, or 5.97 million people, the National Statistics Institute said on Thursday, up from 25 percent in the previous quarter and more than double the European Union average.

The euro zone economy took a step closer to recovery this month as the rate of decline in the bloc's private sector eased more than expected, a business survey showed on Thursday.

The survey published by Markit supports European Central Bank President Mario Draghi's assertion that the 17-nation currency union is benefiting from "positive contagion" but still hints at an economic contraction in the first quarter of 2013.

North Korea to target U.S. with nuclear, rocket tests

North Korea said on Thursday it would carry out further rocket launches and a nuclear test that would target the United States, dramatically stepping up its threats against a country it called its "sworn enemy".

The announcement by the country's top military body came a day after the U.N. Security Council agreed to a U.S.-backed resolution to censure and sanction North Korea for a rocket launch in December that breached U.N. rules.

EU regulators fine Spanish and Portuguese phone companies €79m for collusion

Telefonica and Portugal Telecom, the biggest telephone companies in Spain and Portugal, were fined €79m by European Union (EU) regulators for agreeing not to compete in each other’s home country, regulators said on Wednesday.

The European Commission told Telefonica to pay €66.9m and fined Portugal Telecom €12.3m for an illegal noncompete contract clause, regulators said.

The companies agreed not to rival each other in Spain and Portugal when Telefonica decided to buy Portugal Telecom’s stake in Brazil’s Vivo Participacoes in September 2010.

Irish-led EU military to stay in Somalia

An EU military training mission in Somalia, under Irish command, is to remain in place for another two years. The Council of the European Union said the mission would continue to contribute to the strengthening of the Somali armed forces to prepare them to ultimately take over security responsibilities there.

The mission is currently based at Bihanga in neighbouringUganda but, depending on security considerations, is due to move into the Somalian capital Mogadishu in the coming weeks.

US is main source of EU credit card fraud - Europol

Data breaches in the US account for most of the credit card fraud affecting the EU, a new police report says.

Criminal gangs are making about 1.5bn euros (£1.2bn; $2bn) annually from such fraud, the EU police agency Europol says, regretting that compliance with new security features remains patchy.

In 2011 nearly all fraud involving EU cards took place outside the EU. Chip-and-PIN security used in the EU is not yet global, Europol notes

Only 11 euro zone countries to impose planned financial trading tax

A financial trading tax (FTT) planned by a group of euro zone nations could leave major banks, its main target, relatively unscathed while less nimble smaller trading houses, pension funds and asset managers bear the brunt.

Germany, France and nine other countries are pushing ahead with the tax on trades in stocks, bonds and derivatives, keen to show voters they can claw back some of the taxpayers' money used to bail out banks during the 2007-2009 financial crisis. ID:nL6N0AR2K5]

However, bankers and finance industry experts are sceptical about a tax that will not be imposed even in all 17 euro zone members, let alone in Europe's biggest financial centre, London.

North Korea threatens 3rd nuclear test

North Korea's top governing body warned Thursday that the regime will conduct its third nuclear test in defiance of UN punishment, and made clear that its long-range rockets are designed to carry not only satellites but also warheads aimed at striking the United States.

The National Defence Commission, headed by the country's young leader, Kim Jong-un, rejected Tuesday's UN Security Council resolution condemning North Korea's long-range rocket launch in December as a banned missile activity and expanding sanctions against the regime. The commission reaffirmed in its declaration that the launch was a peaceful bid to send a satellite into space, but also said the country's rocket launches have a military purpose: to strike and attack the United States.

Before American astronauts could successfully navigate the cratered, alien surface of the moon, they had to train on similar terrain here on Earth.

So, NASA blew up a large section of the Arizona desert.

The space agency used hundreds of pounds of dynamite and a few dozen tons of fertilizer to create craters in the Cinder Lake desert outside Flagstaff.

Notorious killer who wants to move to open prison granted anonymity by High Court judge using human rights laws

A judge has used human rights laws to ban the identification of a notorious killer who wants to be set free.

The man – whose crimes shocked the public years ago – is currently challenging a Parole Board decision refusing him a transfer to an open jail with limited security.

This is typically the last step taken by killers before they are freed back on to the streets.

Yesterday the high court sparked fury by saying the man might be in danger if other inmates found out his identity.

EU says Iran stalling on nuclear talks

Iran is stalling on fixing a date and location for a new round of talks on its nuclear program, the European Union's foreign policy chief said on Wednesday, but there is still hope that talks between Tehran and six world powers can begin soon.

EU officials have been in contact with Iranian negotiators repeatedly since December to try to prepare a new set of talks, which the West hopes will lead to Iran scaling back its nuclear work and avert the threat of another war in the Middle East.

But they have failed to agree on a plan so far.

After elections, Obama, Netanyahu back to square one

A tempestuous US and Israeli election season left Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu back where they started -- staring at each other over a gulf of mistrust and still at odds over Iran.

The US president is in solid political shape after winning a second term in an election in which Netanyahu appeared to root for his foe Mitt Romney, and Republicans used his strained ties with Israel as campaign fodder.

Netanyahu emerged weaker after a rebuke from voters in Tuesday's polls, but is set to stay on as prime minister, atop a possibly more centrist but less resilient coalition.

Encouraged by the euro zone's resilience last year in the face of severe doubts about its survival, some outside investors have snapped up assets in the strongest corners of the region.

Yet even the most enthusiastic euro proponent would concede there's plenty more to do to strengthen the currency bloc.
