Austria Rat poison terror alert

Anti-terror police are investigating whether nine tonnes of rat poison stolen together with an Austrian firm's lorry might be used to make explosives.

RDX is not only one of the main explosives in torpedoes, rockets, and bomb warheads and also in use in very specialized detonators, blasting caps, and demolition charges - but is also used as a rat poison.

An Austrian firm had been conned into transporting the poison after getting a request from a Ukrainian company that wanted it collected in Italy.

Here's why the IRS will require Americans to disclose their personal health ID information starting in 2014

Staten Island Borough President: Don’t Give Money to the Red Cross

At a press conference this morning on Staten Island, a host of local officials, including Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, gathered to highlight the needs of the hard-hit borough in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. State troopers deployed as tensions boil at gas stations in Sandy's wake

State troopers have been deployed at all gas stations along the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway, where dwindling gasoline supplies are causing frayed nerves as the region endures its third full day with massive power outages.

Frustration with gas supplies topped the list of issues causing tensions to boil over in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, the states hardest hit by power outages in the wake of superstorm Sandy. Residents jockeyed for fuel at the few stations still pumping, searched store shelves in vain for batteries, struggled with sporadic cell phone service and found themselves unable to buy necessities at supermarkets.

FORMER LIBYAN PM: OBAMA'S 'MISSION ACCOMPLISHED' MOMENT RESULTED IN BENGHAZI

Did Barack Obama have a "Mission Accomplished" moment with dreadful consequences in Libya? Libya's former Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril believes he did.

Perhaps you'll recall when George W. Bush stood on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln and a banner positioned behind him read "Mission Accomplished" regarding Iraq on May 1, 2003. It was a moment that haunted him throughout the rest of his presidency and beyond, as the Iraq War continued on for eight and a half more years.

And just as many Democrats say Bush made a premature call after the sacking of Baghdad and the toppling of the Hussein regime, so too the former Libyan PM says Obama counted his eggs before they hatched.

US warns Israel off pre-emptive strike on Iran

US military commanders have warned their Israeli counterparts that any action against Iran would severely limit the ability of American forces in the region to mount their own operations against the Iranian nuclear programme by cutting off vital logistical support from Gulf Arab allies.

US naval, air and ground forces are dependent for bases, refuelling and supplies on Gulf Arab rulers who are deeply concerned about the progress Iran has made in its nuclear programme, but also about the rising challenge to their regimes posed by the Arab spring and the galvanising impact on popular unrest of an Israeli attack on Iran.

Syria conflict: Will US succeed in reshaping opposition?

US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton's call for a new Syrian opposition more representative of those fighting on the frontlines rather than exiles signals the most forceful attempt yet by Washington to reshape the fragmented Syrian opposition.

The US push is linked to a crucial meeting of opposition figures in Doha next week.

NY state asks feds to cover all $6 billion in storm costs...

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New York state on Wednesday asked the U.S. federal government to pay all the costs of cleaning up and repairing damage from massive storm Sandy that tore through the Northeast this week and crippled New York City.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said he is asking fellow Democrat, President Barack Obama, to pay 100 percent of the estimated $6 billion bill, at a time that state and local government budgets remain constrained by a weak economic recovery.

That would be a significant change from last year when the federal government covered about 75 percent of the $1.2 billion cost paid by New York to clean up after storm Irene hit the region.

Sewage, Bacteria, Gasoline Found in NYC Floodwater

Water is everywhere in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy – in basements, on the streets and in transit systems – but the one place that flood water is most dangerous is in your body.

ABC News chief health and medical editor Dr. Richard Besser collected floodwater and drinking water in some of the areas hit hardest by Sandy and had them tested at The Ambient Group lab. The floodwater collected in Lower Manhattan tested positive for gasoline and two types of bacteria found in sewage: E. coli and coliform.

James Turk - ''15,000 Tons Of Western Central Bank Gold Is Gone''

Today James Turk once again shocked King World News when he stated, “... in 1997 over (a stunning) 2,000 tons of gold moved out of Great Britain.” Turk added, “Now since Great Britain is not a gold miner, we know that gold had to come out of the Bank of England (where they store other countries gold), and it probably went into Zurich (Switzerland) for what’s called ‘leasing’ but I use the word ‘lending,’ or lending into the market.”

But first, here is what Turk had to say about his last interview titled, “The Entire German Gold Hoard Is Gone,” which has received an incredible amount of attention around the world: “Yes, it’s getting increasing attention, Eric, and rightly so. There has been a lot of deception about how much gold is really in central bank vaults.

Since mid-2009 the US has been enjoying a virtual recovery courtesy of a rigged inflation measure that understates inflation. Everything is a lie to serve the power-brokers.

Is The Federal Reserve Destroying Us Or Saving Us?

Many economists believe that the actions taken by the Federal Reserve saved the United States from crashing into another Great Depression.

Economic historians will be debating whether or not the Fed saved the American economy from a depression for decades, but now that the Fed has taken an active role in attempting to stimulate the economy and create jobs through quantitative easing (money printing), many analysts are starting to question whether the Fed will wind up destroying us while attempting to “save” us.
